Mr Ed Bunting

Interim Group CEO and Company Secretary

Ed Bunting LLB, BComm was appointed Interim CEO of Openpay in January 2022, following earlier roles as COO and Company Secretary. 

He has has over 10 years’ experience as a corporate, commercial and regulatory lawyer with leading Australian and international organisations. Prior to Openpay, Ed was the Group General Counsel at Meydan Group and advised listed and unlisted companies in a wide range of industries and jurisdictions. Ed previously served in legal and commercial roles at Ashurst, Cricket Australia and Toyota Australia. Ed is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and is admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Victoria.

Jussi Nunes

Group Chief Financial Officer

Jussi has over 20 years’ experience in banking and finance across a wide variety of roles including corporate finance, treasury, lending and transaction services. Prior to joining Openpay, Jussi Nunes was the Group CFO at BNK Banking Corporation Ltd (ASX: BBC), where he was instrumental in delivering strong portfolio growth, combined with capital and treasury management, to increase the Group’s profitability. In his previous role, he was the GM of Business Product Finance at CBA, with responsibility for Cash-flow & Transaction Services and Business & Corporate Finance. Mr. Nunes is very familiar with young, emerging companies, the intricacies of being listed in the regulated financial services market, and liaising with shareholders and other external stakeholders. Before CBA, he held Senior Finance roles at ANZ, his last role being Global Head of Finance – Group Treasury & Balance Sheet Trading.

Brian Shniderman

Global Chief Strategy Officer & US CEO

Brian is a 34-year veteran of the payments and fintech advisory industry.

He joined Openpay from Deloitte, where he founded and grew the firm’s globally top-ranked Payments practice. He successfully helped the C-suite of large global companies implement high-visibility, complex payments, fintech and banking strategies, mergers and acquisitions, operations, and technology initiatives. These include large credit card issuers, merchant acquirers, networks, payments processors, corporates, governments, and merchants. Prior to Deloitte, Mr. Shniderman was an executive at several advisory firms, focusing on fintech and payments.

In 2001, he was recognised as an innovator of the year by Fortune for introducing approaches for B2B equity-based payments, continuing to innovate and launch new fintech products since then.

Dion Appel 

CEO Australia & New Zealand

Dion is the CEO Australia & New Zealand at Openpay. In his position, Dion is responsible for all business functions to advance Openpay’s mission of changing the way people pay, for the better. Dion joined the company as the Chief Revenue Officer in January 2018 before moving into the role of Group Chief Commercial Officer as the company expanded into the UK, US and its ASX listing.  

Dion’s career blends communications, technology and financial services. He founded a business that was acquired by DDB Worldwide (part of Omnicom Group Inc NYSE:OMC) then assuming the role of Managing Director where he was responsible for profitable revenue growth. Key sectors of growth included banking and finance, automotive, healthcare and retail industries.

Georgina Whalley 

Interim CEO UK & Group Chief Marketing Officer

Georgina has over 20 years’ global brand and consumer marketing experience building data-informed customer and brand propositions, leading customer acquisition and retention strategies and driving sales and category growth. She has held exec level positions at major retail brands including Marks & Spencer, Arcadia and New Look.

Having joined Openpay in 2019 as Group CMO managing ANZ, UK and the US she has recently moved into the UK CEO role where she is driving the UKs growth through entry into new verticals. She continues to oversee the global brand direction and regional marketing strategies.

Richard Broome 

Co-Founder and Head of Innovation

Richard is a co-founder of the Openpay business and has over 25 years’ experience in founding and developing technology companies. 

Across his ventures, he has pioneered technology products from the ground up for consumer, commercial, government and military problems that are used globally.

Richard’s expertise has ensured the development of one of the most flexible BNPL platforms in today’s market and he continues to drive an innovations based culture.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Systems from Monash University.
