Mr Dion Appel 

CEO

Dion is the CEO at Openpay. In his position, Dion is responsible for all business functions to advance Openpay’s mission of changing the way people pay, for the better. Dion joined the company as the Chief Revenue Officer in January 2018 before moving into the role of Group Chief Commercial Officer as the company expanded into the UK, US and its ASX listing.  

Dion’s career blends communications, technology and financial services. He founded a business that was acquired by DDB Worldwide (part of Omnicom Group Inc NYSE:OMC) then assuming the role of Managing Director where he was responsible for profitable revenue growth. Key sectors of growth included banking and finance, automotive, healthcare and retail industries.

Mr Ryk Neethling

Head of Technology

Ryk has over 20 years of experience in software engineering with building and leading high-performing engineering teams in the fintech space. Over his career span, he has been providing key product management leadership and leading the technical architecture and development for multiple ASX listed companies in both start-up and scale-up environments. The last 10 years of his career have seen him lead the technology departments for 3 ASX listed companies as CTO and Head of Technology. Since joining Openpay Ryk has demonstrated his leadership and was promoted to Head of Technology where he is leading the Product and Technology teams. Since he was appointed Head of Technology he has implemented several changes that have brought about a high-performing and dynamic culture in the teams. Ryk holds a Bachelor of Information Technology and Management from Waikato Institute of Technology.

Mr Sasha Vukomanovic

Chief Risk Officer

Sasha Vukomanovic is the Chief Risk Officer. In his position, he is responsible for overseeing the company’s governance and strategy for risk management and compliance, including relationships with regulators and supervisory institutions. Sasha has over 15 years’ experience working for large corporates. Prior to joining Openpay Sasha was a career banker having previously worked for National Australia Bank in various strategy and risk roles. Sasha holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Master’s Degree in Information Technology from Monash University.

Ms Kathryn Grant

Head of Marketing

Kathryn is the Head of Marketing at Openpay and brings over 20 years of financial services marketing experience building customer lifecycle journeys, direct marketing campaigns and loyalty strategies to deliver category growth. Prior to Openpay Kathryn held marketing roles with organisations such as General Electric (GE), ANZ bank & most recently was leading the Marketing team at payments fintech WEX Australia. Kathryn has a Bachelor of Commerce / Economics and a Masters Degree in Marketing from Monash University.

Ms Monique Rajch

Head of People & Culture

Monique has over 20 yrs of experience within HR and Talent Acquisition across a wide variety of industries including healthcare, Finance and Technology and Publishing. Having joined Openpay in 2019 as the Talent Acquisition manager at a time when Openpay was scaling at pace both globally and locally, she now heads up the People and Culture team for ANZ where she leads the functions across Talent Acquisition, Employee engagement, Reward and Recognition and all things people related. Monique holds a Bachelor of Social Science- Human Resource Management (UNSW) and a Master Degree of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from University Western Sydney.

Mr Ed Bunting

Company Secretary

Ed Bunting LLB, BComm is the Company Secretary of Openpay, and has previously also held the roles of COO and Interim CEO.

He has has over 10 years’ experience as a corporate, commercial and regulatory lawyer with leading Australian and international organisations. Prior to Openpay, Ed was the Group General Counsel at Meydan Group and advised listed and unlisted companies in a wide range of industries and jurisdictions. Ed previously served in legal and commercial roles at Ashurst, Cricket Australia and Toyota Australia. Ed is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and is admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Victoria.
